Menno Youth Singers is looking for youth aged 14-22 years who like to sing and are interested in joining us for our 7th season.

Practices are held every Wednesday evening (September-May) at Stirling Avenue Mennonite Church, 57 Stirling Avenue in Kitchener.

Applications for the Winter 2012 season are now being accepted with auditions taking place by contacting

About the Choir

 

Menno Youth Singers are a fun and energetic group of singers, ages 14-22, who enjoy singing and fellowship. 

 

Rehearsals: Wednesdays are from 6:45-8:45 p.m. at Stirling Avenue Mennonite Church, 57 Stirling Avenue N., Kitchener

 

Choir Season: September-May

 

Choir Acceptance: By audition

 

Performances:  Concerts, church services, performances with other choirs, Seniors' Homes throughout the region and performances at dinner functions throughout the surrounding areas.

 

Artistic Personnel

 

Judith Bean, director
Judith Bean graduated with an Honours Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance (WLU), and a Bachelor of Education (Western), specializing in vocal music. In addition, she holds a Licentiate Piano Diploma from Trinity College, England and Performers Associate Diplomas in Piano and Voice from The Western Conservatory of Music.

She has performed in solo recitals, musical theatre productions, and light comedy plays across Ontario. She is known for her one-woman shows Broadway Break, Smudge's Adventures in Rainbow Land, and Rain Or Shine.  She is currently in her 20th year teaching with the Waterloo Region District School Board, teaching Grades JK/SK-6 Elementary Vocal Music.  She held the position of co-director of Inter-Mennonite Children’s Choir for 7 years and has been a Piano Teacher at the Beckett School of Music in Kitchener for 20 years. She is pleased to be the founder and director of Menno Youth Singers, which is currently in their 7th year. 

 

Christine Klaver-Schmidt, accompanist
Christine Klaver-Schmidt graduated from the conservatory in Amsterdam and studied there with Danielle Dechenne and Willem Brons. After graduating in Holland, she continued her studies at Wilfrid Laurier University with Professor Garth Beckett in Piano Performance. Since graduating, she has worked numerous times as an accompanist, duet partner with Janet vanderSpek, choir director and organist. Christine has been a piano teacher with the Beckett School for 25 years. She has been the accompanist of the Menno Youth Singers for the past 6 years.  Since September 2000, she has held the position of main accompanist for The Inter-Mennonite Children's Choir.
